How Do I Play the Single Player Campaign Maps in Halo CE
All of the single player campaign maps in the Halo PC version have been converted to run on Halo CE. You can obtain them from the section of the website labeled 'Single Player Halo CE Maps' . Each of the levels and some other single player levels are available for download. Note: There may be several versions of one or more levels. Those levels are most likely modified in some way.
For the full single player campaign Download the maps:
- Single Player A10 Level - The Pillar of Autumn
- Single Player A30 Level - Halo
- Single Player A50 Level - Truth and Reconciliation
- Single Player B30 Level - The Silent Cartographer
- Single Player B40 Level - Assault on the Control Room
- Single Player C10 Level - 343 Guilty Spark
- Single Player C20 Level - The Library
- Single Player C40 Level - Two Betrayals
- Single Player D20 Level - Keyes
- Single Player D40 Level - The Maw
Extract them from their ZIP archives an place them into the maps folder (see: Where do I put the maps I downloaded? ) NOTE:These levels will NOT appear in the standard Halo CE map display nor is there a 'campaign' option in the standard Halo CE program.
There are two options for running these single player maps:
1) Run from the Console.
To run these levels from the console you first need to have your console enabled. see this article for details on changing your start up Icon to enable the console.
To run these levels from the console you first need to have your console enabled. see this article for details on changing your start up Icon to enable the console.
When you get to screen where you select the 'Multiplayer' selection option hit your Tilde [~] Key to bring up the console
In the game console type: map_name {name of map} then hit return. Example to run the desertplat.map level type 'map_name desertplat' or to run the Halo Level 'map_name a30'
2) Replace your UI map file:
The UI map file is a 'User Interface' file located in your maps folder. It controls the menu options on the start up screen. Several map designers have created custom versions of the UI.map file that also includes the menu options to run the campaign single player maps.
You can obtain the Custom User Interface file Replacements from the Custom UI Files'section of the website.
Download one of the custom UI files that supports the 'campaign menu'.
Download one of the custom UI files that supports the 'campaign menu'.
To use these files you must first backup the original UI.MAP file - place it in a holding folder - then replace the UI.MAP file with one of the ones in from that section. The UI.MAP file is located in the C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesHalo Custom Editionmaps directory. Remember to backup your original UI.MAP file BEFORE replacing it.
The following UI map files are known to support the 'Campaign' menu (note: others may as well)
- Library UI (User Interface) Map file replacement
- D40 Custom UI (User Interface) Map file replacement
- Endurance UI (User Interface) Map file replacement
- Orange UI (User Interface) Map file replacement
Once you replace your UI map file with on that supports the campaign levels you can re-start Halo CE and select 'campaign' to play the single player levels

For 15 years, the only version of Halo for PC has been Gearbox's wrinkled port; imperfect, but not fundamentally broken.
The Refined project is our attempt to smooth all those wrinkles and provide a port that even die-hard Halo purists will be happy with. Everything that was possible to fix has been addressed. Things that were once considered impossible to restore, have been restored using clever workarounds. Many high-fidelity textures and a high resolution HUD have replaced the original compressed versions.
To all Halo enthusiasts out there, we present to you, the Halo Refined project.

FAQ:
Halo Combat Evolved Campaign Download
Q: How did this project come about?
A: Originally, I was writing a program(Refinery) to decompile Halo map files, and wanted to test it out by trying to port Halo PC to Custom Edition. This port was originally called 'Moses's Refined Campaign', and had its own share of bugs(it was more of a test than anything). After the program was finished, I started working on a v2 to fix all outstanding bugs and try to fix others that Gearbox introduced. The project got the attention of several talented people(including the current project head) who could contribute in ways I couldn't. Working together, we eventually branched into 'refining' the ui and multi-player maps as well. Thus, the 'Refined' project was born.
Q: So who is on the Refined 'team'?
A: Well, it's more of a collaborate effort than a team, but I guess 'team' works. Think more along the lines of an open source project though. Anyone can pop up, volunteer to do a thing, and hand it off to the project lead to be incorporated into the final release. All contributors to the project(myself excluded) have simply asked if they can help. You can check out the credits here:
Q: Who is in charge of the project?
A: Originally myself, but currently Mortis. Once we hit v1.0.0, I placed management of the project in his very capable hands. I'm moving on to other things.
Q: I found a legacy bug that still isn't fixed! Who do I contact?
A: Legacy bugs won't be fixed. Triple-wide covenant crates still have dirt collision, Plasma shots leave the wrong burn decal on certain materials, and the warthog still crashes in the intro cutscene. Those are all legacy bugs. This aims to be as faithful to the xbox experience as possible.
Q: I found a bug and I don't think it's legacy! Who do I contact?
A: Well, first off please make sure it's not legacy by comparing it to original xbox footage(not MCC or Anniversary, as both are based on Gearbox's Halo PC port). If you're still sure, hop on our Discord chat and post it in the bug tracker. Be as descriptive as possible, and include pictures or video if possible. If you need footage to compare to, we have full play-throughs posted in the tracker. Also, you don't need to notify anyone in particular, as they have notifications set up for the bug tracker channel.
Q: Does this mean there will be other releases?
A: Very likely. Now that pretty much everything is fixed that is possible to fix, future releases will require quite a few changes piled together to warrant recompiling and pushing out 60+ maps. However, we have been discovering more and more tiny things to fix, so these changes are beginning to pile up(at least one was a Refinery bug). Stay tuned.

343 Industries has promised a lot of improvements for the updated version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and it looks like 'Intelligent Delivery' is one of them. When Brian Jarrard, the Community Director at 343 Industries, was asked whenever you could selectively install content in the new version, he posted a screenshot of the custom download menu.
Let's say you only want to play the campaigns and not bother with multiplayer. You're in luck because you can now choose what to install. The screenshot gives plenty of options and should reduce download times for many gamers.
Sal my friend, we have you covered. Here's a little work-in-progress glimpse of how the new MCC Intelligent Delivery feature is coming together: pic.twitter.com/If6DRatnV9
— Brian Jarrard (@ske7ch) May 21, 2018Hopefully Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be a polished experience when the new version launches. While we know that the update is coming relatively soon, the studio hasn't provided a concrete release date. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection was quite a big deal when it came in 2014. For the first time ever, Master Chief's entire story was available on one console. The game features a remastered Halo 2: Anniversary, along with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. You can also purchase a Halo 3: ODST add-on for the title. If you love Halo, or love first-person shooters in general, this is the definitive collection to own.
